Adam and I enjoyed our first Hale Centre Theatre performance of the year- The Game's Afoot. Naturally, it had to be on the one night all winter that we had a snowstorm and the same facility as the Zac Brown concert, it was super busy.

The play was so much fun and the second half was much better than the first. Their was a key performer, the inspector, and she did such an amazing job!

OUR NEW PLAYROOM

We have done some reorganizing around here. Connor now has his "big-big" (twin) boy bed in his room along with his toddler bed, although he does not want to sleep in it yet. Currently, he wants to sleep in the" little-big" boy bed.

We have also turned our upstairs loft space into a playroom.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011

To celebrate the New Year we decided to stay home and celebrate, just us. We all loaded up and braved a trip to Costo on New Years Eve. Adam picked out some great meat and some awesome king crab legs for our celebration. Later, Adam went grocery shopping ( as that is his new chore) and bought a fun cake for dessert and some delicious cheese.

We really enjoyed the time spent together, just us. We blasted Adele from our Apple TV, had appetizers. watched the Rockin' New Years Eve ( the Dick Clark production) and played games. Even Ali Cats got a special dinner.

Even though we did not stay up officially until 12:00- we still had a great time.

SOUTH PACIFIC

I had a wonderful time with our aunt Toni Lee at South Pacific. We both have January birthdays and we treated each other to a night out. We had planned to stick to our routine and hit the Olive Garden across the street from Capitol Theatre and then head over. However, we had to change plans and eat at my house instead. Toni Lee mentioned that she was really excited to see the production because her high school, Granite High, did South Pacific her senior year and one of her friends- that is now passed- was the lead role. Adam was a great sport- our dog has been very sick and he was taking care of all three "kids" and it was a TON of work.

I thought the play was terrific. I was really satisfied with the cast and performances. During the play- I could smell smoke and was getting upset that someone was smoking in the theatre- when I noticed that the people on stage were the ones smoking (they were constantly lighting up throughout the production). I have no idea if it was fake smoke, if they make that, but it sure smelled like real smoke to me. Also, the production has some mild nudity in it as well.

During intermission Toni Lee asked me how it liked it. My response was, "Well it was more sexual than I had anticipated. " Toni Lee then responded, "Yes! I don't remember that at Granite High."

CROUP

This winter our little guy had a cough that developed overnight into croup. Adam and I were very scared, as we had never experienced it with Connor. We were very proactive, followed advice from our baby book ( Your First Year Week by Week) and headed the advice of the pediatrician.Every night, for five nights Adam would take Calvin our for a walk for 30 minutes- that is after his 30 min walk with the dog. Also, It did happen to be the beginning part of December when it was ice cold outside. As he would pass our house I would have piping hot cider waiting on the sidewalk for him. Calvin only had the croup cough one night and I think it was because of those long, cold walks to open his airway before bed.

Note: Baby Calvin developed croup after a 10 day antibiotic treatment for a sinus infection- then had croup/ coughing for a week/ then went back on a 10 day antibiotic for double ear infections. December was a long, tough month for baby Calvin with his first cold.

CHRISTMAS 2011

Christmas 2011 was very special for us, it was our first Christmas as a complete family of four. We spent pre- Christmas Eve with Adam's family- regretfully I was having camera issues and was unable to get any pictures. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, some excellent spiced cider and very thoughtful gift exchange.

We spent Christmas Eve at my grandma Carolyn's house at her annual Christmas Eve Bash.We came home and got ready for bed so that we could be ready for Santa Clause to come. In the morning, 6:58 to be exact, I heard a small knock at my door and my mom and dad were here to watch Connor and Calvin open their gifts. It was very exciting to see the look on Connor's face when he came out to the Christmas presents under the Christmas Tree.

This Christmas was not only memorable because it was our first Christmas as a complete family. This Christmas is memorable because it may be our dog's last Christmas with us.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA @ GRAND AMERICA

A complete little kid buffet with mac and cheese, mini corn dogs, strawberry milk and a hot chocolate bar with homemade flavored marshmallows.

SAN DIEGO

An awesome get-a-way to San Diego, CA. We stayed at The Grand Del Mar ( a 15 STAR RESORT- click here to check it out) , visited Old Town and La Jolla. We had so much fun, just the two of us.

DAY 1- Arrived in San Diego, played some golf (rode in the cart with Adam for nine holes) went back to the room, did some relaxing, purchased a new read on my Nook (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) Adam came back from golfing and we had the Hotel take us to La Jolla for dinner. We ate at Zen Bu Sushi and then had some coffee at a cafe.

DAY 2- Went into Old Town to do some shopping and exploring. We ran into this really dinky golf course- it was where Tiger played when he was a kid. We had the most AMAZING Mexican food our our lives. As we were shopping we asked each sales clerk where the best restaurant was in Old Town- hands down they all kept saying Casa Guadalajara- so we went and we had a great time. The chips and salsa were the starting point and the red flag that this meal was going to be amazing. We could tell from others around us that the portion size was HUGE heck, the margaritas were 32oz. We ended up splitting a lunch and a drink. After lunch we continued our shopping and found some last minute Christmas purchases and some fun souvenirs for our family.

For dinner we went to the restaurant Nine- Ten( the head chef was in a showdown on Iron Chef with Adam's favorite Iron Chef, Bobby Flay)

DAY 3- Adam enjoyed a round of golf with one of his buddies, Jason. I had a great time relaxing in the Hotel and reading my book. ( this is the first book I have had the time to read since baby Calvin was born) I joined the boys for lunch and then went and got ready and Jason's wife came up and we all went out to dinner-

Day 4- We got ready and came home. We had a nice relaxing time just the two of us, right before the Holidays. Thanks mom and dad and grandma Ellie for watching our little boys. We appreciate you.

The anticipation of getting into our pj's , grabbing blankets, hitting the McDonald's drive thru and driving around looking at lights as been on the back of my mind all year. As soon as December 1st came around I was ready to put my plan into action. We ate dinner, changed into our pj's, and I even enticed Connor to help pick up his toys so we could go get an ice cream and see the Christmas lights. Everything went according to plan until we pulled out of McDonald's drive thru, Connor with kiddie cone in hand, fast asleep. Adam and I did enjoy a nice quiet ride with both boys out like a light.

LIGHTS #2

We had an enjoyable evening with our Aunt Toni Lee @ Thanksgiving Point. We ate tasty pizza from NYPD, drank apple cider, and played with trains. Thanks Aunt Toni Lee for inviting us on your Thanksgiving Point pass...again. Also, thank you for picking up all the toys that Connor did not want to "break". We had a fun time!

LIGHTS #3

Connor and I had our annual Zoo Lights trip with the Larson's. Connor no longer rides in the stroller he has to walk EVERYWHERE we go. We had a fun time until Connor began crying because he was cold. We still enjoyed the company, the animals, and the rides.

SEVEN YEARS

I have been married for seven wonderful years.

I have the most amazing husband in the world.

I have enjoyed every single moment of being married.

Adam and I spent the weekend at Grand America downtown SL. We spent the afternoon relaxing, shopping at Gateway, watching Seinfeld (Adam has NEVER seen a complete episode) and wandering around the Hotel.

We had an excellent meal at the Garden Cafe @ The Grand and a little bread pudding for dessert.

THEN-

To me, it is amazing to look back and reflect about the couple we "used" to be before we had kids. We were the couple with complete freedom- go to double header movies, vacation whenever- wherever, constant shopping- buying anything we wanted, hanging out with friends, following U2- anywhere in the 50 US states, AO golfing with his buddies every night in the summer and golf tournaments on the weekend, etc.

NOW-

cannot go to the bathroom/ shower without an audience, movies quarterly, vacations once per year, shopping- but purchasing nothing for ourselves, seeing U2 in the four corner area, AO selling his CC membership because he has no time to golf, etc.

Adam and I have become so close and such amazing partners in everything we do. Our closeness and partnership that we created together in the "then" phase is vital to the "now" part of our relationship- because we do everything together and raising two children requires two parents to be home, making meals, cleaning messes, changing diapers, getting up in the night, etc.

Thank You Adam for being a true friend and partner in every sense of the word. I appreciate the golf tournaments you chose not to play in, the U2 shows that you are gone for less than 24 hours, all of your folding laundry and grocery shopping.

I see many moms that can survive easily without their spouse and I am glad that I am not one of them. I need you too much and I am glad that you need me too!

HALLOWEEN 2011

This Halloween Connor picked out his own costume. He decided to be a skeleton. Baby Calvin did not get to chose his costume as he was a New York Yankee baseball player (recycled from Connor)

I was so excited to get home from work and get our Halloween on. Adam brought home a pizza for dinner so we could eat quick and not have a lot to pick up. Connor refused to eat the pizza and practically refused to go Trick or Treating- We drug everyone out the door and after the first house Connor needed no more persuasion. He was hooked. I only made it around the block with Baby Calvin in the stroller because it was getting cold and Cal Pal had a little cold. Just as I walked in the door- he puked all down my back- I was even wearing a brand new sweater the tags still attached.

THANKSGIVING POINT PUMPKIN FESTIVITIES

During UEA Connor, Calvin and I decided to make a play date with my soon to be sister in law Jillian and little Addy. We went to Thanksgiving Point to the Cornbellys activities.

RESULT- Too much fun. If Connor were a little older he would have had a blast. Baby Calvin had a good time being outdoors and soaking up some Vitamin D. We only stayed a few hours, but it was enough. After that, Baby Calvin, Connor, and I headed to grandma Ellies to soak up some loves, went to Uncle DJ's for dinner, and spent the weekend with grandma and grandpa. What a fun weekend it was.

FOOD NINJA

It is officially that time again...baby food making time. A few years ago when I took Connor to his 4 month check up his Pediatrician recommended that I get this fabulous cook book from WilliamSonoma- I had heard of a friend- Kirsha- via her blog and she had done the very thing. I spoke with my friend Fae about it and it turned out she already had the cookbook and was thinking about making some of the baby food recipes in the book. ( If you want to go back in time and see Fae and I approx. two years previous click HERE.)

Well, my mom bought me a grand new machine- the Food Ninja and I have been dying to try it out. My friend from work was generous enough to give me some beautiful apples from her very own apple tree (thanks Sandy). Even though Baby Calvin was not quite old enough for the baby food- Connor and I went to work on getting them ready. I peeled, rinsed, and chopped. Connor's job was to take the smaller segments and put them into the steamer- however, more went into his mouth than made it into the steamer. He has never- ever been into apples THAT much.

Maybe because they were fresh,

Maybe because they were designated for Baby Calvin?

After making the baby food I had set some apples aside to make some applesauce for Connor. When I gave him his fresh bowl of applesauce- he pushed them away and said, "No mom- I don't eat baby food- I'n a big boy. On a side note, Adam thought it was great.

We had to postpone the apples for now and had to restart on butternut squash. The apples sent Baby Calvin into a true taste bud coma. We called it "bitter apple face". We will try again once we get a few more tastes down.

BATH TIME BUDDIES

To kill two birds with one stone we have been condensing bath time to once per day. Connor has been more than willing to share his bath with baby Calvin. I love the easy, breezy, time saver this has become. Connor's room is across the hallway from his bathroom and this allows us to leave Connor in- get Cal Pal out and in his pj's- then get Connor out.

Now days the end of bath time does NOT mean bed time. Connor is struggling with naps in the day and going to bed at night. If he takes a nap- HE WILL NOT GO TO BED. We have been in for some long nights around here. After bath time we put on one episode of Caillou for Connor to watch- while he is watching it- I take the opportunity to spend some cuddle time with baby Calvin before he goes to bed.

Our new system really works well IF we have the following two items- 1. Both of us (one kid each) 2. A tired Connor. It has been very rewarding to watch Connor be a big brother. Connor truly loves baby Calvin and is constantly smothering him with loves, hugs, kisses, etc. Lately he has been helping him roll over (with a not so subtle push) and eat his baby foods( with a spoon down the throat). All- in -all, it has been a beautiful experience to be a family.

PUMPKIN DECORATING

We enjoyed some pumpkin decorating/ coloring this year instead of carving- Connor was so excited to use the permanent markers he could not contain himself. My mom found us these great face pieces that stick right in the pumpkin, thanks Grandma Sherrie, it was a hit!

FARNSWORTH FARMS AND GARDNER VILLAGE

One of our favorite things to do on a Saturday is hangout with Grandma Sherrie. Grandma Sherrie came over and we all headed to Farnsworth Farms to gather some pumpkins from the Pumpkin Patch.

We wanted to take advantage of Grandma Sherrie's afternoon visit so we decided to visit the Witches at Gardner Village. We had a wonderful afternoon, ate some lunch, enjoyed some light shopping, and visited the ponies for a ride. It was very nerving to see Connor riding the horse all on his own without anyone holding or helping him. Wow- he is getting so big!

Grandma Sherrie also decided to take Connor home with her for a sleep over. Connor enjoys being with Grandma and Grandpa without us around. He secretly likes the attention all to himself. Thanks Grandma Sherrie- we had such a fun afternoon. We love you and appreciate you so much.

BIG BOYS

Can you feel the fall in the air?

Well, at our house the seasons are not the only things that are changing.

Connor is officially two and a half- 37inches tall- 27 lbs.

He no longer sits in a high chair he sits in a "big boy" booster seat at the table.

He also has been sleeping in his toddler bed for the last six months- after giving his crib to baby Calvin.

Calvin is almost 6 months old and I don't know his measurements- but they will be coming soon. Calvin has just begun eating rice cereal and he loves it.

I could not resist posting this picture- his face just looks so beautiful, almost like a doll.

MARRY POPPINS

We celebrated my Grandma Ellie's birthday with theatre tickets to Marry Poppins. Unfortunately, my mom had a last minute work trip to Virginia and was unable to attend. Fortunately, Adam's Aunt Toni Lee was willing to fill in.

LAGOON 2011

September 10, 2011 was our first official trip to Lagoon as a family.

We got invited go spend the day at Lagoon with some of my extended family- I found some discount tickets online from Deseret Book and we decided to go.

Connor loved the rides! There was not one single ride that he was afraid or scared of- he wanted to go on them all. His favorite ride was one of the roller coasters in kiddyland, because it went backwards.

Adam has always admired the western family photo that my parents have at their house. When we were in Pioneer Village he wanted to do a western photo so bad...so we did. I was not too excited about it or the 40 minute wait. However, with that behind us I am very grateful for Adam and I LOVE the photo, even Calvin is looking.

Adam and I enjoyed watching his facial expressions as we would take him on each ride. He was literally having the time of his life. We got to Lagoon at 10:00 A.M. and stayed until closing time. It was amazing that both kids were so good.

Calvin really enjoyed being outdoors and seeing and soaking in all there was to see, he even got to ride the train. This particular outing made me extremely grateful that he is such a good baby and on one heck of a schedule.

It is not just the photos, we did have this much fun!

9. Continues to drive the Honda with over 300,000 + miles; rarely complains.

8. Enjoys zoo trips and aquarium visits ( as most dads stay home).

7. Took me to Nordstroms for dinner and back to school/work shopping.

6. Great work ethic- always professional and courteous- even when others are not.

5. Works as a caddy at GlenWild in PC for some extra "vacation" money.

4. Took me to Hawaii for my first time.

2. Motivated/ Inspired me to finish my degree and actually gave me a personal tour of the campus. Then, watched Connor endless nights when I went back to school for my Masters Degree...oh and paid for it too.

1. Gave me two beautiful sons- Connor and Calvin.

Adam I/ we love you so very much and appreciate each and everything you do for us.

Connor is so inspired and in awe of you- whenever something is out of his grasp of reality or is ability to do at the moment- he says, "don't worry mom, dad will fix/do it."

It is amazing to see you as a father and see the admiration in Connor's eyes every time he looks at you.

Like you say, "Cheers- to the memories ahead".

HAWAIIAN LUAU

On Labor Day we spent a lovely evening with Aunt Toni Lee @ the Thanksgiving Point Labor Day Hawaiian Luau. The temperature was perfect, cloud cover overhead, and a slight breeze in the air. Connor was his usualpickyeater- and only ate the cupcake, but he did enjoy the music, dancing, and the ability to run around as an independent.

I can barely believe that baby Calvin is four months old already, can you believe how fast time has gone by?

On a side note- our Pediatrician suggested we see a specialist to have a second opinion on Calvin's head. Calvin has a big head compared to his small body. Also, he is such a good little sleeper and napper that he is often on is head for long periods of time. I vigilantly try to rotate his head position from side to side as he sleeps, but because his head is so big he cannot really have it on one side or the other or he will tip over.

We visited a Plastic Surgeon in Sandy and he took some cranial measurements with some very sophisticated tools. It turns out the flatness/helmet is determined by a mathematical formula- the closer the cranial measurements are the less chance, the bigger the discrepancy the more chance for a helmet. The doctor said that ideally the measurements should be exact although he has never seen a baby with perfectly symmetrical measurements...that was until he measured Baby Calvin.

His diagnosis- Don't schedule a follow up appointment, we won't need to see you again.

PARK CITY ARTS FESTIVAL 2011

Heading up to Park City to enjoy a BBQ with our friends the McRae's - We left early so that we could beat the 5:00- Friday traffic and thought we could take a quick trip to Main Street.

As we were approaching Main Street we began to notice A.lot.of.people. Yes, it was the Park City Arts Festival. After realizing that we had picked a really bad day to go exploring we decided to turn around and be early to our party...but as we were turning around we discovered a perfect parking spot. We slid right in, unloaded, and we were off.

Unfortunately, we did not find anything to purchase besides a Lime Ricky. Connor had a lot of fun- mainly because we did not have our stroller and he was able to wander around on his own as Mr. Independent.

This is our attempt at a family picture. Because of the liberation of Mr. Independence- he was not going to be contained- not even for one second- and baby Calvin was fast asleep.

PICNIC ON THE PORCH

Connor enjoys going out on the porch and watching the rain come down. On this particular afternoon the wind was blowing and it was a bit chilly, but we were having a good time. We decided to have a picnic on the porch and do a little bit of side walk chalking.

I am in love with these two boys.

Connor has been such a supportive and kind big brother to baby Calvin.

When baby Calvin first came home Connor would ask me, like 100 times per day, " is that baby Calvin, can I pet her?" Now...he not only realizes that baby Calvin is a boy but he is always kissing and hugging him- he even enjoys changing the diapers and will get his stool and watch. Adam and I made the mistake of referring to baby Calvin's messy diapers as "hot carls". Connor will get so excited and say, "is it a hot Carl mom?" OOPSIE!

Best of all if I ask Connor if he wants to hold baby Calvin he will get so " succiting" (exciting) and run and jump on the couch- he will hold him for 2.5 seconds and then yell out " grab him".

I love these boys so much, even though being a parent-especially a mom- is hard work. It is so moving to hear a little voice say " I love you, mom."

We went to Grantsville to watch the parade and spend the day with family. The parade was perfect- overcast and a sprinkle. It began to rain right as the parade was over. We enjoyed the park, games, swimming, homemade root beer and ice cream, smores, and fireworks.

Our wonderful friends Coby and Marlee came to SL to surprise their parents for their 40th wedding anniversary. We took the opportunity to spend as much time with them as possible.

Candy is a bird conservationist and takes care of birds that need rehabilitated until they can be returned to their environment or taken by a facility. Here she has a pelican. If you notice all the kids gathering around the tree- the pelican would hide behind the tree and the kids would dare each other to go up and touch the tree.

She also has owls- BTW you need a licence to have owls as they are protected birds.

She also had some humming birds right next to her on the table as she was eating- they were so tiny she had to feed them like every 15 minutes.

The mini trampoline that the kids were allowed to jump on in the house and then onto the couch- Connor was confused as to why he could jump on the couch, but he LOVED it.

Baby Calvin was the best behaved kid there. He just sat in his bouncer, ate, and slept.

We had a recent play date with our friends the Larsons.

We played at an upscale park, thanks to Fae for living in an upscale neighborhood, where kids leave their toys there for ALL kids to play with. Both Connor and Fin had fun on the equipment, swings, and the sand. Both of the little babies just slept the afternoon away while enjoying the warmth of the sun, as it has been gone for SO long.

Just think, this used to be a group of 2!

SOLDIER HOLLOW INDIAN POW WOW

We took a road trip up to Heber for the annual Soldier Hollow Pow Wow. It was a beautiful and relaxing drive as both kids decided to take a rest. As we were driving through Heber, we realized we were right smack dab in the middle of Ragnar 2011, oops! Secondly, as we approached the entrance to the event we realized that Adam de junked his pockets and wallet and left all of his cash on the kitchen counter- myself, I only had 5 dollars. We won't mention how we got into the Pow Wow, but we will share our the photos of the fun we had as a family.

We had an amazing time at the Pow Wow, enjoyed the road trip, hit a yard sale and bought some baby items, had some Navajo Tacos, and most importantly spent some quality time together as a family of four.

BLUE BUBBLES

My mom had this genius idea to purchase some colored bubbles. She bought them for a party she was hosting for the younger kids to play with.

MEMORIAL DAY 2011

This Memorial Day was cold, as you can tell from all of our layers. Adam and I packed up the kids, went to lunch, then went to put some flowers on the graves. We went on Sunday rather than Monday and the cemetery was already filled with flowers from eye to eye. We were both surprised at how many people had come to pay their respects before the actual Memorial Day and it was really busy too.

My mom and I also went to my Grandpa's grave, but it was raining and we decided not to unload baby Calvin- I'm sure that Grandpa Ted already knows him anyway.

DENTIST

Connor had his first dentist appointment and did great. Adam was a trooper and took him, held his head, and was there for emotional support- while I stayed home with Baby Calvin.

He did have a little tartar on his bottoms- I blame that on the binki. Now it is all gone.

Connor came home with a cape, mask, tooth brush, paste, floss, a flossing tool, an electric toothbrush, and a smile!

If I would have known that an electric toothbrush would have been so efficient and fun I would have bought one long ago.

Now I can't seem to get him to quit brushing his teeth!

NOW YOU SEE IT...NOW YOU DON'T

We recently had the HUGE tree in our backyard removed. In the beginning we loved the tree as it provided privacy and shade in our backyard. Also, we would use it to guide people to our house- we would say it is the only house in the community with a tree. Unfortunately, our neighbors did not appreciate the tree as much as we did. The tree was clogging up their rain gutters, rubbing against their house, and leaving a mess in their yard. In some of the recent spring storms we have been having the tree was really getting broken down and falling apart. Because we enjoyed the tree we looked into getting it trimmed to maintain it and such, but it was too expensive- 1,000! So we opted for removal to save on future trimming expenses.

They removed the tree by crane from a nearby empty lot. There was a man up in the tree using a saw to cut the branches- then the branches would be lifted up into the air and placed in a tree shredder.

BABY CONNOR OR BABY CALVIN?

After telling everyone that my boys DON' T look alike, I have changed my mind. I have decided that even though Connor and Calvin do not look alike today- they did look alike at one point in time- Can you tell who is who?

Yeah, after viewing the pictures I may have changed my mind again. I definitely think that they have some similarities though.

MOTHERS DAY 2011

Mothers Day 2011 was extra special for me because...I got an extra special gift, baby Calvin!

Being a mom is the best thing that I have ever done. I enjoy holding my kids, kissing them, talking about them, etc. However, it is the hardest thing I have ever done. Being a mom has given me an extra level of stress that is heart pounding. It is hard to put into words how much a mom worries about her kids- they are pooping too much, they have not pooped it over 24 hours, fevers, ear aches, etc.

One of the most amazing moments as a mom was one night when Connor called me into his bedroom in the middle of the night. As I went to put him back in his crib after changing his diaper he grabbed onto me extra tight and said I wanna rock in the rock chair. Even though it was the middle of the night, I held onto him and rocked him and told him I loved him-

BIG BROTHER

Connor has been such a terrific big brother to baby Calvin. I will be the first person to admit that it has been an adjustment, but it is going well for us. Connor loves to give baby Calvin kisses (on the mouth) Constantly asks, "Can I pet her mom?" helps change his bum (look at his poos) and even disposes of the diaper and puts his empty bottles in the sink.

When baby Calvin is sleeping Connor and I like to do fun things like coloring, cooking, playing outside and reading stories.

Connor has been desperately needing his hair cut. Now that baby Calvin is here I have found myself not really wanting to run errands because I don't want haul two kids around/in and out of the car. So...did I mention that Connor DESPERATELY needed a hair cut?

Well, I decided to take matters into my own hands one morning. I set him up on a bar stool, took his clothes off, told him he was getting his hair cut- with scissors-, and gave him a Popsicle to keep him distracted. It worked and I really think it looks good too.

Lazy Sundays are the best kind of weekends. In my opinion...

- If you are not planning on going anywhere, why get all ready?-

Today was just that- a nice HOT bath, a nap, going for a stroll around the block, etc.

As I was relaxing today I lay on my unmade bed- on Adam's side watching a movie. Wow- what a different point of view to be on the other side of the bed. The television picture seemed clearer and closer than it appears on my side of the bed, who knew? It is no wonder he enjoys watching television/movies in our room.

Sunday's are a great day to spend with family and an even better day to be lazy.

EASTER 2011

Easter this year was with a family of four, it included baby Calvin- What a wonderful Easter gift!

The Easter Bunny made a stop at our house to eat some carrots, fill our Easter baskets, and hide some Easter eggs.

Connor's basket included; a Toy Story Woody doll and new Buzz Lightyear cell phone as well as some books. Funny story- the Easter Bunny was so excited about filling Connor and Calvin's baskets that he forgot to fill Adam and mine- OOPSIE- Hopefully he will remember next year?

As soon as Connor saw his Woody doll he needed it opened, NOW!

Apparently, our carrots were a real hit!

We had a quiet Easter holiday at home with just us. Adam made some delicious lamb chops and we just spend time at home enjoying our new family of four.

EASTER EGG DECORATING

We did some Easter Egg Decorating when Grandma Sherrie was staying at our house for a few days. We had originally planned on decorating eggs at my moms house, but that was BEFORE the early arrival of baby Calvin. Instead, grandma headed over to Walgreen's and got all the necessities.

Connor was a real natural at this type of thing because of his love for cooking. He did a great job and only broke three eggs- out of twenty-four. The mess was minimal because of his skills in pretend cooking.

When we were all done Connor insisted on pouring all the coloring together into one bowl and mixing it- then separating them into individual containers - again, and again.

CALVIN ADAM OETTLI

The arrival of baby Calvin came on April 13, 2011- 17 days early.

On the early morning of April 13, 2011 Adam and I headed over to the IMC because we thought we were in labor- I had been having contraction for a few hours and they were officially 5 MIN APART!

Upon our arrival at the hospital we learned that because I was only 37 weeks( rather than the full 40) they were most likely going to give me a shot to stop my contractions and send me home. After hearing this news I began to cry- more like bawl hysterically- I did not want to go through 4 hours of contractions AGAIN!

(NOTE: In my previous pregnancy with Connor I only had one single contraction and after that contraction I got the epidural- I had/have NEVER been in so much pain before- )

After speaking with some of my doctors they decided to keep me there and FINALLY gave me my epidural. A few hours later...3:00 P.M. we had a baby boy, Calvin.

CONNOR TURNS 2

On March 28, 2011 our baby Connor turned into just Connor and a two year old. Our baby boy is no longer a baby he is a "little guy". It is amazing to see the transition from day to day, week to week, and year to year. When I am in the moment I feel like time goes by so slowly- but when I step out of the moment and reflect back I am amazed at how fast time actually flies. I remember the day that I had Connor, the day he came home from the hospital, and every other important moment just like it happened yesterday.

Connor had a golf themed birthday party - with "club" sandwiches, snacks, chips, and golf cupcakes. He had such a fun time celebrating with his family- especially his cousins. In the days leading up to the party Connor kept a daily countdown- he would say things like, "Coleman's party on Saturday- Connor's party on Sunday." As the decorations were going up he would ask, "is that for my party?" Adam brought home some balloons and a massive yellow balloon that barely fit in his car.

Our special gift to Connor was some custom golf clubs- they are the real deal and have even been taken in and cut down and re-gripped for him! ( I don't know who is more excited about this one, Connor or dad?)

To top off his special day our neighbor, Cameron Rafati, came over to sing Happy Birthday.

Some things about Connor-

-he naps every day around 1:00

-loves balloons

-enjoys reading

-visits the aquarium and knows his way around

-Puma is his favorite shoe

-he is obsessed with shoes- don't take him shoe shopping!

-enjoys being around his cousins

-transitioned great to the new baby sitter

-( i may be a bit biased)- he is a genius!

-speaks in full sentences

-comprehends questions and forms responses

-sits on the potty- but is NOT potty trained

-knows the different types of horses by sight- bay colt, paint, palomino, etc.

-loves grandma and grandpa

-does not eat a good breakfast

-rides great in the car

-plays with tractors

-enjoys seeing school buses, tractors, work crews, construction projects, etc.

-good manners- says please and thank you

-soothed by music

-can recognize Bono on the radio and often requests him in the car

We love Connor so much and are proud of the "little guy" he is becoming.

FREE TIME ON OUR HANDS

Adam and I were very lucky to have a Saturday night all alone. My mom came to SL to help me get some last minute things done to get ready for baby Calvin and took Connor home to spend Saturday night with her.

Naturally, Connor was more than willing to leave and go to "pa pa's house." After he left- I enjoyed a little reading time and eventually dozed off into a much needed afternoon- baby making-nap.

By the time I awoke, it was nearly dinner time. Adam left the house with no real plans-to find somewhere to eat. We really wanted to see a movie, but could not narrow our two choices down. So, like most healthy relationships, we compromised and decided to see one Saturday night and the other Sunday morning. Heck, all we had was time!

We went and saw, Limitless and Lincoln Lawyer- Both very excellent movies!

We enjoyed such a relaxing evening- even our dog Ali appeared to be enjoying herself- Another great perk was that we were able to SLEEP IN!!

By the way, I am sure that everyone who diligently follows our blog or personally knows us, we love our kid...but it was nice to have FREE TIME ON OUR HANDS.

PLAYING AT THE PARK

We are lucky enough to have our own community park in our neighborhood. Last year, Connor was too small to enjoy or utilize the park. This year, he is in LOVE. Every day he asks if he can go down the slide. Naturally, I tell him to wait until dad comes home and ask dad. When Adam walks in the door Connor goes a running.

Our neighbor and friend Jake loves the park too. I can already tell this is going to be such a "big boy" summer, and I can't wait. Lagoon...here we come!

DISNEY ON ICE

Disney on Ice was more exciting, entertaining, and expensive than I had anticipated it to be.

Exciting-

The excitement for Disney on Ice began when I mentioned the idea to my mom and then she bought the tickets, the two of us are easily excitable. As the day kept getting closer I continued to tell Connor that we would be going and reviewing the characters that we had on hand ( we have very few Disney things at our house, he wore is Buzz Light Year pajamas ever day for and entire week)

As we were watching T.V. one night a Disney on Ice commercial came on- We grabbed Connor's attention and started telling him, "Disney on Ice." He looked at the commercial, then looked at us and said, "I wanna go there."

Entertaining-

Connor sat through the entire show eyes glued to the characters, to my surprise he even knew who Mickey Mouse was. Connor sat on grandma Sherrie's lap eating popcorn, playing with his light up toy, and not making a peep.

Expensive-

The price of all the "extra" items there was very comparable to Disney Land itself.

Adam came home from work with a "surprise" for Connor in his car. We all went outside and found...a basketball hoop!

I don't know who was more excited, the person giving the gift or the person receiving the gift.

FYI- Ali was her usual self, taking over the ball and not letting Connor near it. I actually heard these words come from Adam's mouth, "If you pop THIS ball I'm going to kill you." After a few light smackings she has left the ball alone.

DAY 3

This morning it was 7:40 and I still had not heard from Connor- he usually rises at around 7:30 on weekdays. I decided to go check him out and found him wide awake-READING- What a good boy!

Things are about the same, but he still continues to ask for it now and again- car rides, nap time, etc. However, he is falling asleep faster and faster each night. Giving him plenty of books to read seems to help too.

Maybe it will take a few weeks for him to quit asking, but there is no turning back now.

DAY 2

Well...Day two has been better than expected.

I was off work and with Connor all day. (Rachel, our current tender is going to be having her baby soon and our new tender -Amy- is on a cruise)

We started our day sleeping in and getting ready to head out to see grandma Sherrie. Connor stayed awake the entire drive to Tooele and did great without the binki or the blanket. We spent some time in the car looking for airplanes and admiring the "big trucks".

We went to grandma Sherrie's work and then to lunch with her, grandma Ellie, and Uncle DJ. After lunch we went to visit and play at grandma Ellie's house- we made a quick stop toGrantsville and Connor got to see grandpa and help do chores( feed the chickens, water and feed the horses, collect eggs- etc.)

The drive home Connor was pooped and fell asleep, again without the "tools" of choice.

All went well...then came bedtime.

Connor did ask for the binki and instead I gave him the blanket. He asked for the binki again and I told him he did not need it. After I shut the door he kept calling, "Mommy"- I dreaded answering him but I went in and he said, " I need the Monster at the End of this Book" I quickly gave it to him, for some light reading I suppose, and that was the last we heard of him until this morning.

Wow- Adam and I are both SHOCKED at how well this is working. We never would have thought that this binki business would actually work-

DAY 1

Yesterday was DAY 1, with no binki.

It did not go that bad.

We started off with no binki/blanket in the car on the way to the baby sitter's house. Our baby sitter then put him down for his afternoon nap and when he asked for it she told him he did not need it and that he was a big boy- he fell asleep.

When I picked him up we again had no "tools" as we call them in the car on the drive home.

When bedtime came- it was kind of heartbreaking. He asked for the binki so I gave him the blanket instead. He looked up at me and said, "Better go get the binki mom." I just said goodnight and shut the door. He did not fall asleep right away- he talked to himself for about 40 minutes- we could hear him on the monitor saying things like cooking, sauces, etc. BUT NO CRYING. That was the last we heard from him until 7:30 this morning.

Connor and Dad are taking a shower on a Saturday morning. Mom comes in the bathroom, gets Connor out of shower, wraps him in a towel, sets him on the bed and tells him to stay there while she goes and gets some clothes.

I saw a T.V. ad, I don't remember what the advertisement was for- but I really appreciated the message. It was something like- Valentines is not about telling/showing the person you love how much you love them it is about telling/showing the person you love "us". As I thought about that I realized that I do love the "us" concept better. I love being an "us". Adam and I have accomplished so much together as a couple, I could not imagine my life without him. He is so much a partner in everything that I do, that I can't even use the word I, we are a team in EVERYTHING. We start our day together getting Connor ready, packing lunches and end the day together making dinner, doing the dishes, and picking up toys.

Valentines Day 2011 was a day off from work. My district has us taking furlough days and Valentines Day was one of them- so a three day weekend for me.

Adam and I went out the Saturday before to our favorite restaurant, Tiburon. My parents came out earlier that afternoon to give Connor his Valentine and decided to take him home to spend the night at their house. Connor loves his grandpa "Pa Pa" and grandma "Ga ma" so much. When my mom asked him if he wanted to come to her house- Connor ran to grab his things. I tried giving him a hug and he was so scared that I was not going to let him go. He began screaming- "I'm going to ga ma's house!"

It was very quiet without him. I rested, watched T.V. and read some of my book while Adam went to hit some golf balls.

Adam is the best task assigner- Seriously- you can give him an assignment and he will supersede your expectations every. single. time. Most times he does not even need to be given an assignment and he will just surprise you.

Like...when we were grocery shopping and I asked him to run and grab me a deodorant- he came back with the best deodorant ever. Usually, when I shop, I but the cheapest one there is. However, since I have been using this wonderful deodorant I now know why it is important not to always be so cheap.

Secondly, he brought these home for me.

I love cupcakes!

It is wonderful to have such a caring and giving husband.

I am one lucky girl!!

WHAT IS CONNOR DOING NOW?

Since the disaster of losing our HD on the laptop I am finally back to blogging and I do have some pictures. Thankfully- I had just downloaded about 400 pics to Costco (October) and ordered a disk AND had not deleted all the photos from my camera yet- I am still in the process of finding out what exactly I lost.

Lately Connor has been too independent. He sometimes throws a fit when being put down for bed or a nap. He finds the most creative things to say-

He will wake you up screaming in the middle of the night W A T E R!!! By the time I run in there, in his sweetest voice he will then say- I need some water please-

Connor has been practicing sitting on the potty and is doing very well. He has been known to use the potty about 4-5 times in one day.

We are loving every second of his personality- the bad seconds are out numbered by the good seconds. I love having a little boy and can't wait to bring another baby boy home soon.

THE BIG 28

I recently turned the BIG 2-8.

I had a wonderful birthday and a celebration too. My parents came out and we all went to dinner at a new restaurant in Ft. Union- T-KOTO- it is Tepanyaki style. Connor loved the atmosphere mostly because he is addicted to cooking. He is such a smart boy and watched the other tables be served. When it was our turn he already knew that there would be some fire involved.- he leaned into me and turned his head away-getting very nervous. However, when the fire was over he gave a very appreciative hand clap and everyone laughed.

At the restaurant Connor could Not get enough of the Mi so soup or the ham fried rice- he kept saying, "more rice". As the meat entrees came out he would ask for more chicken, steak, etc. Near the end of the meal I was giving him some of the little pieces of chicken I had cut for him and he turns to me and says, "no more chicken- want lobster." That little guy ate every single bite of his meal and a small portion of mine and my moms.

Adam really spoiled me for my birthday-just like he does every year- he got me a color Nook and I love it. It is a lot like a computer. Connor also got me some needed floor mats for my car- rubber ones that won't get bunched up or smash down the gas(this is another story)

A new Vera Bradley backpack/diaper bag and matching wallet for the new baby.

I am very appreciative of my family and friends for texting me, stopping by, FB, and calling to wish me a Happy Birthday- Hopefully this will be a lesson in trying not to forget others special days too.

Now that my birthday is out of the way we have on deck- Valentines Day, Connor's Birthday, the birth of baby Calvin, and uncle Dj's Birthday.

A BIT OF BAD LUCK

We have been experiencing a bit of bad luck here in our home-

#1. We had the most awful return flight from Honolulu, Hawaii one could imagine. We were flying the red eye and about 2 hours into the flight when the captain came over the intercom and announced that the plane was experiencing difficulties with the hydraulics. We then had to turn around and head back to Honolulu- after 4 + hours of flying we were back where we came from. The captain tried to calmly explain the situation about our problems with the hydraulics with relation to the landing gear. It was the longest 2 hours of my life. As we were flying back I continued to think of Connor and wonder if Adam and I would ever see him again. Your mind is a very powerful tool- and a lot can be pondered in a two hour period. The landing was the most traumatic event I have ever experienced. We hit the runway going extremely, extremely fast. The best way to describe it was like over correcting on the freeway- except in an airplane.

#2- Adam had his car robbed at Nordstrom- Fashion Place Mall. He went to Nordstrom for some light shopping and for a lunch engagement. As he was returning to his car he noticed that his car trunk was open- upon closer inspection he realized that one of his back windows were smashed in and his car stereo, along with his speakers were gone.

#3- Our lap top hard drive crashed- we lost the use of our most utilized item-the computer. Our I Tunes, documents, and photos are GONE.

As I reflect upon the tragic/expensive past month..

I am not discouraged...I am not down.

I am appreciative of my husband, home, job, family that loves me, and all our our good health.

Goodbye 2010-

Another year in and out- These are my personal highlights. Click on the title if you wish to read more.

(In no particular order)

1. Gordon- Adam's father Gordon passed away on March 15, 2010. He never had the opportunity to get to know myself or Connor. We really miss him.

2. Connor's First Birthday- A CARS themed celebration with friends and family.

3. Masters Degree- After attending night classes and summer classes...I finally completed graduate school!

4. Connor Became Mobile- It was so fun to see Connor realize that he was walking and propelling himself. (May 29, 2010- 14 mos old)

5. Our New Yard- Adam spent countless hours weeding and grooming our yard to perfection. He would "cultivate" the flower beds and weed every single weekend. It was the best looking yard on the block.

6.Lava Hot Springs- Our second annual trip to Lava Hot Springs with baby Connor.

7.HAIR- Connor finally began to sprout hair! (16 mos old)

8. Las Vegas- Over the UEA break Adam and I went to Las Vegas to see, "The Bronx Tale"- by Chazz Palminteri. I am not sure how many of you have seen that show, or even heard of it, but it is good. It is a directoral debut of Robert Dinero and stars Chazz Palminteri as Sonny. It is a heartfelt story with a good message.

9. Boy #2- Due April 30, 2011.

10. Hawaii- A vacation that was long overdue!

CHRISTMAS 2010

We spent Christmas morning at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Granstville, UT. Before we left for Hawaii we told Santa that we would not be home for the Holidays and informed him to leave Connor's presents in Granstville.

Our Morning went something like this-

HAWAII 2010

This year I got two weeks off work for Christmas Break. Adam and I decided to take a vacation and we headed to Hawaii.

Here is a brief description in pictures-

The Legend of La'ie Point:

Laniloa, The Mo'o
This point of land that extends out into the ocean is called Laniloa. According to legend. This peninsula was originally a "Mo'o" or giant lizard. Standing upright ready to kill any intruder.

After Kana (a legendary warrior) and his brother had rescued their mother from Moloka'i and had taken her back to Hawaii. Kana set out on a journey to kill all the Mo'o in the islands. In time, he arrived in La'ie where the Mo'o had been killing many people. Kana easily defeated the Mo'o taking its head. He chopped it into five pieces and flung them into the ocean. The pieces of the lizard's head can still be seen today as five small islands lying off-shore their original names were Kihewamoku, Moluaaniwa, Pulemoku, Malualai and Keauakaluapa'a'a.

Pali Lookout- The Nuuanu Pali Lookout ("Cool Height Cliff")overlooking the 985 foot cliffs of the Koolau Mountain Range, is one of the best views on O'ahu. It was here in 1795 that King Kamehameha and his warriors defeated the O'ahu armies by sending them over these steep, forested cliffs and claiming his victory and uniting the Hawaiian Islands. The breathtaking sight and the gruesome history of the battle fought here is enough to cause a chill to run up your spine. Add to that the incredible winds that often pass through the Pali and you may be swept off your feet!

We had a wonderful time on our vacation, soaked up the sun and did some shopping. Even though we were sad to go- we were super excited to return home to the Con Man- we missed him so much. We were scheduled to return home on Christmas Eve morning, but because of home plane issues we had to fly back to Honolulu for an emergency landing- We did get home- 12 hours late- in time for Christmas, and in one piece! SANTA CANDIES

This years advent calendar has been a hit! Every morning when Connor wakes up one of the first things that comes out of his mouth is "SANTA CANDY". We immediately head into the kitchen and open the chocolate filled window for the day. It seems amazing that one little piece of candy could create such excitement...and mess.

#1. "Mommy(calling my name from his crib @ 7:30 AM ready to get up) Mommy, Mommy."

(I go in his room) "Get out" ( I get him out) "lights off" ( I unplug his Christmas tree) "Milk" (I take him in the kitchen to give him his chocolate milk) "Gummies" ( give him his vitamins) "Santa Candy"( He open up the daily advent calendar) Duration of Demands: 2 min.

#2. "Daddy, get up" (Adam is sitting down on the couch, he asks what) "Get up"(Connor pulling his pant leg and leading him over to the floor) "Sit here" (Adam sits down) "Play toys" (Adam begins playing the games that Connor wants to play)

#3. ( In the car traveling to my parents house) "I wanna go to papa's house" (We will, Connor we are on the way) " I wanna go to the barn" (We will, Connor we are on the way) " I wanna see the bay colt" (We will, Connor we are on the way) "Horses night night" (yes, they are) "Emmy?" (What) "Emmy?" (oh, you want to see Remmy ) "Okay."

#5. "I wanna go in the laundry room." ( i open the door and let him in) "Bye, Bye, I going to office, see you."

#8. "I wanna call gamma" (I get the phone and dial my mom) "Gamma- Santa- CANDY!" (yes, Connor saw Santa and did get some candy.)

ZOO LIGHTS

Christmas is such a fun time to get out and about. Even though it was a school night Connor and I made plans to hang out with our friends for Dinner @ Corner Bakery and Zoo lights. I have never before attended Zoo lights, but was surprised that- it was not as cold and it was more exciting/fun than I expected it would be-

BOY

yes, it is a boy!

We had out ultra sound last week and confirmations detail that our newest baby is a boy. Truthfully, I was hoping for a girl, but DEEP down I knew it was a boy. Before the ultra sound I had shed many tears hoping for a girl I could do things with. After the ultra sound, I shed no tears. I am grateful for the gift of being a mother again and welcome a baby boy with all my heart. Adam was excited for himself( what father does not want his own sons) but sad for me at the same time.

Later that evening, I got a little sad at the fact that I would not be dressing my daughter in tights, wearing fun bows, getting ears pierced, playing barbies-Pet Shop- American Girls, getting pedicures and having spa days, etc. I just needed that last bit of closure and then I was over it.

Now...I am ready to paint( because I have a girl room and bathroom all ready!!), go through Connor's baby clothes, get the room ready, shop, and pick out a name. As the days go by I am thinking of all the things I will be doing in my future with two boys, it will be so fun.

LIGHTS ON

A co-worker told me about the Sandy City Lights on Festival, so we went. It was Connor's first time meeting Santa Clause- he knows who he is from Holiday cartoons and his Christmas Advent Calendar. He did so well waiting in line, I think he was awe struck by all the glamor, kids, decorations, and the train. When his turn in line began approaching, he started to get nervous. Upon walking up to Santa he was apprehensive, but the realization that Santa was giving him candy was more than inviting. He gladly too the candy and sat up on Santa's lap. He was only on Santa's lap for a total of .02 seconds when he said, "All done." Even though he did not enjoy sitting on Santa's lap it was all he could talk about for the remainder of the evening.

The lights on had great decorations, a speech by the Mayor, and some beautiful songs from the Sandy City Symphony. Connor loves music and he really enjoyed the live music and seeing all the people play the instruments- he watched them play for about 15 minutes.

We had a great time- and I'm sure it is because I am pregnant- but I actually got a tad bit emotional at the festivities, with the lights, songs, families, etc. It was magical and a special way to kick off the season. When Connor got home he asked to call Gamma- the only words he said to her were, "I saw Santa- CANDY!" Somehow, Grandma Sherrie knew exactly what Connor was saying.

SNOW DAY

On Sunday we had so much snow at our house- nearly 8-10 inches. I had mixed feelings about the snow. On one hand I was glad it was on a Sunday when we could all go out and play in it, and it did look so beautiful the way it covered the lawns and roads- it blanketed everything in a clean white. On the other hand, I had tickets to see the Radio City Rocketts downtown with my mom, aunt and both grandmas.

The snow kept falling and falling and I was really scared to drive on I15 and I215 in the weather conditions, by myself, and being pregnant. (My driving skills and vision while driving are questionable) I decided against going.

Instead I...

THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is such a humbling time to reflect upon our many blessings. In the year 2010 we were thankful for:

Jobs/Employment- this year has brought about some tough times and we are grateful for the opportunity to have jobs that provide for our needs/family.

Health-we have been fortunate that Connor has outgrown his acid reflux and is now such a happy -healthy boy.

Happiness- Adam and I have enjoyed the year 2010 being parents and having a family.

Our Home- it is such a joy/relief to have a home that has enough space for a family- the condo was getting tight!

Renters- the wonderful family renting our condo are taking such good care of it and enjoying it as much as we did.

Family- our families are kind to lend a hand(Connor tender) when needed.

Friends- the best kind of people are the people you CHOSE to be around, even if your not related.

Some of the things we have gone through in six years together-

two states, Massachusetts and Utah- two apartments(MA), two homes (UT), two degrees (Amanda), one Ali cats, zero new cars, endless cell phone replacements, one computer, Hawaii (3) two cruises(Alaska and Western Caribbean), loss of a father, brother, and grandfather, and the birth of our son Connor Geoffrey Oettli.

We spent our anniversary @ Grand America Hotel relaxing by the fire, eating a wonderful meal, and reliving some of our favorite memories as a couple. I am very grateful for Adam- he is such a caring person, wonderful husband and a helpful father.

I am thankful for such a wonderful husband who puts his family first. It makes me feel special to know that Connor and I will always be #1.

the starters, salads, and desserts are all buffet style. After the

meal they came by with an extravagant cheese cart showcasing

cheeses from Utah. We were so full already but knew to save

room for the donuts that we took our cheeses up to the room.

BABY # 2?

YES!

I am officially 1/2 way through my second pregnancy.

We do not know what Baby #2 is- but are hoping to find out next week.

Some things about this pregnancy-

1. Crave all the same types of foods- lemons, limes, sprite, oranges, apples (granny smith)

2. Nausea- but no vomiting.

3. Exhaustion- Extremely tired- working all day, chasing after a 19 month old.

4. I look farther along than I really am- but have officially gained my first five lbs.(not to be confused with the fact that I appear to have put on at LEAST 30)

5. Confidence- I am more confident this pregnancy because I know what to expect and I know that the weight WILL go away- We are both super excited and can't wait to find out the gender.

HANDSOME MAN

Today I was working away, teaching math, when in walked a most handsome man.

This handsome man was approaching me, he leaned into me and whispered in my ear.

This man came to my work to hand deliver a turkey club sandwich with a side of cranberry and an iced green tea.

COZIES

When we get home from work/school we immediately wash our hands and change our clothes. It is super refreshing to shed all the layers of tight dress clothes and heels. I have always been famous for doing this, and have convinced Adam of the benefits as well, although he continues to stay all dolled up while he BBQ's and walks the dog- me on the other hand have no regrets about walking the dog in sweat pants or "cozies"

Connor recently got some new Halloween "cozies". Now just for clarification, "cozies" are not pajamas- "cozies" are only to be worn between the hours of work clothes and pajamas-thus keeping them clean for multiple day use. Best of all, Connor's glow in the dark!

LAS VEGAS @ THE VANETIAN

Over the UEA break Adam and I went to Las Vegas to see, "The Bronx Tale"- by Chazz Palminteri. I am not sure how many of you have seen that show, or even heard of it, but it is good. It is a directoral debut of Robert Dinero and stars Chazz Palminteri as Sonny. It is a heartfelt story with a good message.

Adam found out at the Venetian was offering a "Bronx Tale Package" and off we went. It was relaxing to enjoy our afternoons at the pool, reading, visiting, and being kid less. We ate at some amazing restaurants including Tao and CarniVino( Mario Batali)

We enjoyed a few shows, toured the casinos and did our famous "fake shopping"- (this is actually window shopping because we cannot afford stores like Hermes, LV, or Prada)

The show ended up being spectacular- it was a 60 min. monologue by Chazz Palminteri and it was awesome! Adam even scored tickets to the meet and greet and actually got to get his picture taken and his DVD(that he brought from home-that we watched the night before we left) autographed.

Vacations are always fun, but coming home to the Con Man is even better!!

GARDNER VILLAGE

It all started with an invite to Gardner Village, organized by my friend Jen F. This was her second annual Gardner Village day and I was glad to be invited. The shops were all decorated with the Halloween theme and the Witches.

When I was leaving my house I was so excited to be going somewhere- shopping and lunch- where I could take my time and brouse and eat my own meal. My excitement was such a rush that I got my car keys and coat and headed out the door. It was until I was half way there that I realized that I had forgotten my purse- containing the wallet- (a necessity for shopping). I quickly made a phone call home and informed Adam of my situation. I turned the car around, headed for home, pulled in the driveway to find Adam and Connor waiting there with my purse in hand- I practically lost no time at all!

It was such a fun day with wonderful company and a delisious lunch at Archibalds Restaurnat. I found some great things for my Halloween constume, but am keeping them at the moment MUM. Best of all, while walking around the shops we spotted our family photo on display at Highlite Photography. The display made me excited and it kind of justified the whole professional photo experience for me- considering that the pictures were taken a year ago I can now talk about it without too much pain. When Adam and I went in to the studio to view the pictures of our first family photo we fell in love. We had such a difficult time narrowing down our choices that we ended up picking almost every picture, getting enlargements, purchasing extra photos as gifts, and ordering Christmas cards…well, the cost did add up. Lets just put it this way- you know you are getting yourself into a bad situation when your photography bill is higher than your brand new house payment.

Lesson; Become a professional photographer!

A TRIP TO HEBER, UTAH

Adam has been raving about this wonderful restaurant in Heber, Utah -Spin Cafe- We were already going to Park City for dinner at a friends house that evening so we decided to make a day out of it and take a mini road trip.

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the leaves transitioning from summer to fall. We went to the Homestead where they were having a witch festival, wagon rides and a pumpkin patch. Connor was completely taken back by the size and quantity of the pumpkins. Naturally, he tried to pick up the biggest pumpkin he could find. (isn't that amazing even at the early age of 19 months-we know that bigger is better?)

No trip to Park City can be completed without a quick trip to the outlets where Adam and I both got some new clothes.

The night was completed with a wonderful dinner at the McRae's house in Park City. We had such a wonderful day and enjoyed the moments of being a family.

BEETLE PARTS AND THEIR LARVA?

Most of you may have heard about the Similac Formula recall?

I have been getting recall letters in the mail all this week. The letters say, "...the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single manufacturing facility...there is a possibility that infants who consume this formula containing beetles or the larvae could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of the small insect parts irritating the GI tract...if the symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted..."

Hello, this describes Connor's first 8 months to a tee! I love Abbott admits that the formula may have been in distribution for the past 5 weeks!

WHATEVER...

I have a Similac canister, $39.84 @ Costco- This particular container has been in the garage of my new home holding nuts, bolts, razor blades, nails, etc- Now wait, did I say new house? Yeah, except I have lived here a year this month...MEANING...that that damn can is at the very LEAST 12 months old-and I did check the lot number on the bottom of the canister-Yup, infected/recalled!

The reason that this makes me so upset is because I had so many problems with Connor as an infant-I did switch formulas, but only within the same brand. There were so many nights/days that I sat holding him crying my eyes out because my baby was so sick-projectile vomiting, gas, belly aches, bloating, constipation, etc. To this day he is still on medication because of his GI tract.

The most disgusting part of all is that formula is consumed because the GI tract of a baby is not formed yet- I am wondering if there is any long term damage to beetle larvae setting up shop in Connor's little tummy. Did they ruin/damage anything, are they still there? The whole thing is just gross.

Now, I do realize that mistakes happen, I am grateful that Connor is safe and appears to be healthy. I just wish that inspectors would have found this problem back when my son was drinking the contaminated formula (19 months ago).

WHEELER FARM

UTAH STATE FAIR

My dad is/was a member of the Utah Fancy Poultry Association- he raises, breeds, and sells birds and he at one time used to enter the shows at the Fair- the trip also brought back memories of Adam and...

We had fair food, rode the rides, and had such a wonderful time creating our own State Fair memories. Although, I do wish Connor was big enough to ride THE GIANT YELLOW SLIDE-I even brought pants to slide on under my skirt-I was ready!

Adam was a true sport and took Connor on some of the rides while I watched and took pictures.

We even saw tractors, many of them.

Connor would yell, "Trac Tor, Trac Tor"

until we finally got past them.

Connor loves to ride ponies, but this picture makes it look like he hates it. Actually he is screaming because Adam is holding onto him-he is Mr. Independent, remember?
